five ways to engage

Apply to Join the Civics Academy

The annual Civics Academy offers participants the opportunity to learn about the City’s programs and operations, meet City staff and elected officials and get to know other civic-minded community members. The program is designed to prepare community members for roles on local-government boards and commissions, as well as area non-profits.

Apply to Serve on a Board or Commission

City Boards and Commissions play an important role in local government. These volunteer committees lend their time and expertise to improve our community and provide citizen oversight; their work ensures that City staff and elected officials serve the public interest.

Typically, the City solicits candidates each fall for new terms that begin in January or July of the following year. Applications are accepted year-round for consideration as unexpired terms open, and when recruitment activities take place each fall. Service typically includes one evening meeting each month, and extensive knowledge of meeting topics under consideration.

Volunteer

Wilsonville is a wonderful place, in part because of the generous spirit of the people who live and work within our community.

Volunteers donate hundreds of hours of service and other resources to support City programs each year. Their critical assistance builds stronger community relationships, extends service hours and improves the quality of life in Wilsonville.

Volunteerism is a great résumé builder that can provide a sense of purpose, counteract negative feelings and even help you stay physically fit; sign up today!

Speak to the City Council at a Meeting

City Council meetings are typically held at 7 pm on the first and third Monday of each month. Near the start of each meeting, a period of public input provides an opportunity allows anyone to address the Council for up to three minutes.

“Let’s Talk, Wilsonville”! is the City’s public engagement website. It has been established to make it easier for community members to review City projects and provide feedback to project managers. When new projects are posted, “Let’s Talk, Wilsonville!” subscribers receive emails inviting them to participate.
